To get to Komodo Island from Lombok, there are fourth main options: first, fly to Labuan Bajo on Flores Island and then take a boat; second, take a boat tour (live on board) directly from Lombok to Komodo Island; Third, take a Bus and ferry to Labuan Bajo and book a tour to Komodo Island; and Fourth, by private car to Labuan Bajo and then book a boat tour to Komodo Island.

The Plane option is faster but more expensive, while a tour by Bus or Vehicle and Boat offers Experiences, views, and island exploration along the way.

1. Fly to Labuan Bajo (The Easiest & Fastest Option)

Fly from Lombok (LOP) to Labuan bajo (LBJ):

Take a flight from Lombok International Airport (LOP) to Komodo Airport (LBJ) in Labuan Bajo. Wings Air and Lion Air fly to Labuan Bajo from Lombok.

Look for bus operators that serve intercity trips from Mataram to Bima. To book this bus ticket, you can search for information through travel apps or online bus ticket websites.

Travel Route:

To get to Komodo Island from Lombok, you can use a bus. This type of transportation is suitable for those looking to save money, especially backpackers. The route is quite easy. Just find the “Bertais” bus station in Mataram, take the bus to Kayangan-Pototano-Bima-Sape port, and then book a ferry ticket from Sape port to Labuan Bajo, Flores. For buses from Mataram, you can book bus tickets to Bima city. Several bus service providers include: (Dunia Mas, Langsung Indah, and Surya Kencana). These buses serve intercity travel between Mataram and Bima.
Ticket prices for these bus services vary, ranging from IDR 320,000 to IDR 475,000, depending on the service offered.

From Bima city, you can also use inter-district transportation. From Bima City to Sape Harbor, the cost is around IDR 50,000.

From Sape, you can then take a ferry to Labuan Bajo, Flores. The ticket price is IDR 86,000 per adult.

The journey takes approximately 13 hours from the Bertais bus station in Mataram to Bima City.
From Bima City to Sape Harbor, it takes about two hours, and the ferry to Labuan Bajo takes about seven hours.

Take a private vehicle from Lombok to Bima City and Sape Harbor, then take a ferry to Labuan Bajo, then find a tour boat to Komodo Island.

Use a private vehicle. The way to Labuan Bajo from Lombok can be done using your own private vehicle or a rental car. This method is suitable for those who want to enjoy a trip with family, friends, or a group, and learn more about the culture, cuisine, ethnic, and regional languages ​​of east Indonesia. It’s specifically for true adventurers who enjoy new cultures, even if it’s a little tiring.
The route is specific to the Lombok area. Simply drive from the East Lombok ferry port to Pototano Harbor, Sumbawa Besar. The cost for motorized vehicles depends on your vehicle’s specifications. If you’re using a motorcycle, the crossing fee is around IDR 85,000. For cars, ferry tickets range from IDR 505,700 to IDR 792,800, depending on your vehicle type.

From Pototano, Sumbawa, you can head directly to Sape Port. From there, you can find the ferry ticket counter for Labuan Bajo. The ferry schedule from Sape Port to Labuan Bajo departs around 9:00 AM, and the journey takes approximately 7-8 hours by ferry.

The ferry ticket price for a medium-sized car is around IDR 1,375,000.
This can be even cheaper for a family or group trip.

From Labuan Bajo, you can find boat tours to Komodo Island. There are several options, including one-day tours, two-day, one-night tours, or three-day, two-night tours.
